On May 4th, Daniel Thomas Faller, the founder and CEO of Schauplatz, visited Incheon National University.
Schauplatz
is an online magazine company located in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, Korea.
Schauplatz is a magazine company that originated in Switzerland, a small
country with a population of 9 million. The company name, Schauplatz,
means hot spot, and the theme is currently life/photography/travel.
CEO
Daniel Thomas Faller made his first visit to Korea as a member of the
UN military and started working at JSA in 2015. Afterwards, in 2018,
Schauplatz was established in Seoul.

explains why he created the Schauplatz like this: “Korea is not well
known in Switzerland and Europe. In addition, I came to Korea and
realized that many European people have a false and distorted image of
Korea, and based on this, a unique online magazine called ‘schauplatz’
was born to inform Korea's charm and various information.
The
main mission of the company is to introduce major travel spots to Swiss
and Europeans visiting Korea. However, the big feature is that it
introduces hidden hotspots rather than publicly known general places. In
addition, It is also characterized by meeting local people and writing
articles in the form of storytelling.
Today, it is not easy
for people to travel freely because of the pandemic situation.
Therefore, Schauplatz is explained that it’s the vision and mission of
Schauplatz to connect foreign people with Korea through digital media
and to bring Korean culture a little closer.
Lastly, although a
company called Schauplatz was very unfamiliar to us, I was very
impressed with its role in promoting Korea, Europe, and even Korea to
the world through digital media. It is also a part of prediction of how
relations between Korea, Switzerland and Europe will continue through
Schauplatz in the future.
CEO Daniel Thomas Faller concluded
his lecture by explaining that next year will be the 60th anniversary of
the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and Switzerland, and
saying that it will be a very important year with many large and small
events.
Mr. Faller gave also some advices to the students, what is useful if they apply for jobs or internships.
