Excursion to Mando-Brose company in Songdo
On May 25th, we visited Mando-Brose, a German-Korean autoparts manufacturer.
Mando-Brose is a company located in Songdo that is rather far from the subway station. They are specializing in automobile-part motors (for expl power steering or brake motors), established in 2011 as a joint venture between Mando of Korea and Brose of Germany.
Before we entered the factory, we put stickers on everyone's cell phone cameras by security. The company have their unique way for security. Mando-Brose develops and sells various auto parts such as EPS (Electric Power Steering), IDB (Integrated Dynamic Brake), DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), and CFM (Cooling Fan Motor). After listening to the presentations from the employees, we heard the process and explanations of how products are made inside the factory. All processes are automated and a target setting monitor is installed so that it can be seen all over the plant. The production staff's work was systematic, and we saw that an optimal production system was in place. Employees in the office share one server and work in an efficient environment where they can work from anywhere just by connecting to their laptop. Also, the fact that there has never been a safety accident so far shows that they are trying to be safe so much.
The culture which employees call each other "nim" seems to be a culture that has become established in many companies these days, and Mando-Brose has this culture, so I thought it is a company that have an open mind.
